PEGAH KAZEMI
Artist Statement
My current work explores the fragile boundary between the familiar and the absurd, where the human body becomes a site of vulnerability, estrangement, and quiet resistance. Through distorted figures, uneasy gestures, and unexpected encounters between objects, I examine the instability of identity and the contradictions of being human.
Balancing realism with the grotesque, I approach the body not as a fixed form, but as a dynamic, sometimes absurd presence—caught between intimacy and alienation, tenderness and discomfort. My paintings inhabit the space where the ordinary becomes strange, and the strange begins to feel unsettlingly familiar.
